The lymphatic system consists of the lymphoid organs (bone marrow, thymus, lymphatic vessels, lymph nodes and spleen, as well as the adenoids and tonsils) and are found throughout the body. They are involved in the growth and deployment of lymphocytes.
The lymphatic system plays the central role in building immune response. The lymphocytes (white blood cells) produced by the lymphatic system enables the body to rid itself of bacteria, viruses, foreign substances, environmental toxins and toxic waste produced by cells in our metabolism that would otherwise build up.
The miles of lymphatic vessels and lymph nodes are key to the removal of waste generated throughout the body. This waste collects in the lymph nodes, is passed into the bloodstream and then to the lungs, kidneys, colon and skin for removal. All of the lymphatic organs work together to protect us from disease and illness.
