Essential fatty acids (EFAs) or "good fats," are essential for optimum health.
EFAs are the main component of all cells, are required for healthy cell growth
and division, keeps the membranes of the cells fluid, and allows the entry of
nutrients and the removal of toxins.

We cannot live without EFAs which must be consumed through diet because they cannot be produced by the body. EFAs improve and regulate cellular function, reduces inflammation, promotes immunity and helps to prevent chronic disease such as heart disease.
EFAs decreases blood clotting and promotes wound healing, affects constriction and dialation of heart blood vessels, improves blood flow, helps protect against high blood pressure and helps to maintain healthy blood lipid (fat) levels. EFA's also restore energy, helps in the digestion of food and enhances healthy hormone balance.
An adequate intake of EFAs is notably lacking in the modern diet. Without EFAs, our immune system cannot be efficient. This results in constant and cumulative damage to the cell membrane which erodes our health, weakens our immunity, speeds the aging process and facilitates disease. Signs of Fatty Acid Deficiency.
Optimal health depends upon an adequate dietary intake of EFAs from healthy fats (monounsaturated and polyunsaturated). Both omega-3 fatty acids in the form of alpha-linolenic acid and omega-6 fatty acids in the form of linoleic acid are critically important for overall health and well-being for virtually every system in the body.
